Dedication to Nuclear Disarmament
and a Nuclear Free Australia
Living in the United States also made me aware, as I still am, of the dangers of nuclear power plants, the toxic waste products and the risk of accidents due to human error in the domestic and military sectors. Returning to Australia, I became a founding member of the Nuclear Disarmament Party and proposed Peter Garrett as the Senate candidate in l984. This issue is looming again, with the increasing risk of nuclear arms proliferation and the unsolved problem of waste storage.
The current debate on "clean" fuels should not minimise the hazards and costliness of nuclear power. |
