Community Involvement

I have always enjoyed participating in community life. I grew up with Rotary. I was a founding member of Punch Park People, one of the earliest environmental groups. I was a committee member of the Urban Planning and Environment Coalition, and President of the Balmain Association for 9 years. In this role, in 1991, I was the community spokesperson in the successful legal challenge to the State government's imposition of a Planning Administrator at Leichhardt Council to push through overdevelopment on 5 large foreshore sites in Balmain. I was also responsible for the establishment of precinct committees in Leichhardt Municipality.

For 24 years I have been a Director of KU Children's Services, the leading employer in the not-for-profit early childhood sector. Directors are honoraries, highly committed to affordable, available, high quality children's services.

I have a passion for politics, but also love to enjoy the amenities and variety of my home city. I would be proud to represent the electorate of Sydney in the Australian Federal Parliament.
